Bressanone in South Tyrol: medieval Episcopal city in the Isarco Valley
Bressanone is located in the centre of a wide basin in the Isarco Valley. The Episcopal city was built at the confluence of the rivers Rienza and Isarco and welcomes you with a medieval ambiance. Narrow streets with charming arcades wind through the city centre and magnificent buildings line the streets. In the centre of the old town, the mighty cathedral rise with its Gothic cloister and the prince-bishop palace (Hofburg). Landmark of Bressanone is the 71-meter White Tower, which is one of the tallest buildings in the Episcopal city. The plateau can be easily reached by cable car: the valley station is located in the village of S. Andrea. At the mountain station Val Croce, picturesque hiking and mountain biking trails start, where you can enjoy beautiful views of the Dolomites.
