Artists town Chiusa: medieval charm in the Isarco Valley
The small artists’ town of Chiusa offers a medieval town centre, crossed by narrow, winding streets. From the Inn Ansitz Fonteklaus you may reach the fascinating town in a few minutes by car or a one-hour walk. The cobbled streets are lined with houses with decorated fronts, while historic inn signs point the way to quaint taverns. Admire the precious Loreto Treasure in the city museum during your holiday in Chiusa. It is a valuable collection of works of art, which in the early 18th century was donated by the Spanish Queen Maria Anna. An interesting hiking destination is the Monastery of Sabiona, perched on an impressive peak above Chiusa – in the past it was the bishop’s seat.
Sundry holidays in Chiusa in every season
A holiday in Chiusa has a very special charm in every season. In the spring, thousands of apple trees are in full bloom, while summer attractions include the alpine highlands of the Alpe di Villandro with wonderful hiking and mountain bike trails. Refreshment on hot summer days is offered by the outdoor pool in Chiusa and the lake Varna near Bressanone. In the fall, traditional inns and taverns invite you to Törggelen in Isarco Valley. Medieval castles, palaces and monasteries offer great cultural destinations.
